Business Case - Global Retailer

With the responsibility for strategic development of a global retail network, this client is a leading global retailing group that began to experience increased competition and pressure on margins. The client needed to respond to market pressures by quickly reversing the erosion of their traditional market and delivering a greater return on investment. With this objective in mind, Informed Solutions was engaged to develop a business case which would highlight the commercial benefits of providing spatial systems functions to the retail network planning process.

Following an assessment of the client's strategic business requirements, the team examined the current and predicted planning requirements at both the global and local market levels. An analysis of the capabilities offered by spatial systems, against each major phase of decision making in the retail site lifecycle, identified that spatial systems were directly and significantly applicable to a number of key decisions. The analysis also showed the clearly measurable financial benefits of adopting a global 'framework' approach to spatial technology deployment.

Following presentation and acceptance of the business case, the client engaged Informed Solutions to develop the global spatial technology framework, providing local office access to powerful analysis tools, modelled on the client's corporate specification of network planning best practices. The resulting spatial systems framework allows local planners to assess network potential with greater speed, efficiency and accuracy which, in turn, has led to significantly improved decision making.
