Natural resources form the basis of our modern world. They constitute not only life’s essentials, but also our primary source of energy and the raw materials on which national economies are based. While these resources come in many forms, and societies are increasingly faced with the need to use them to their full potential, there is now growing awareness of the need to use these resources responsibly for the good of the global environment, which ultimately sustains us all.
This has led to an increasing emphasis on use of sustainable natural resources to meet our growing energy requirements. However, balancing the need to use these resources responsibly, while increasing economic prosperity, brings its own set of unique challenges. Governments must regulate to ensure that resources are used to their full potential, while protecting the environment in which we live. Private organisations must balance the need to ensure profitability, with responsible use of the resources they consume. Both groups must answer to increasingly informed citizens, who are demanding greater levels of responsibility.
Informed Solutions continues to help governments and private organisations build the business systems they need to use natural resources in a responsible and economically viable manner. Within the UK, we are working with Government to develop systems to manage traditional and renewable energy sources, that will help the UK to meet the requirements of European Union Environmental Directives. We also continue to work closely with global energy companies, developing systems that manage and integrate business and environmental data, and which directly underpin day to day decision making. We have also helped both sectors to develop open standards based applications (such as those of the Open GIS Consortium), to allow the full integration of data and systems that the successful management of natural resources now demands.
We would welcome the opportunity to discuss ways in which we can help your organisation to meet the challenges posed by the responsible use of natural resources. To discuss this, or any aspect of systems development for natural and renewable resources, please feel free to contact Justin Hassall.
