| Technical Audit - National Telco |
As a result of rapid growth through merger and acquisition, the network and planning groups within this national telecommunications operator functioned as independent working units.
The client had reached the decision that a more strategic investment in spatial information systems was required to better manage their network assets and operations. It was also recognised that the implementation budget outlined in the original business case was being eroded by inefficiencies in systems administration and operational support.
Informed Solutions was commissioned to undertake an independent audit of the existing infrastructure, enabling technologies, application systems and databases within each operating franchise, with a view to proposing a common technical platform that met the client's need for centralised operations and systems.
We worked alongside the client to refine the proposed new technical platform, and following the Board's acceptance of these recommendations, we were retained to undertake a systematic migration of all bespoke applications and databases. The client was provided with a definitive corporate standard which fully complied with their preferred technical platform, incorporated up-to-date technologies and products releases, and proved more cost-effective and efficient to manage and maintain.
The new centralised systems delivered a more reliable service, ensured a consistent workflow and records management model throughout the organisation, and offered significant and sustainable time and cost savings in systems administration and support functions. We were also awarded a fully managed support and configuration management framework service to ensure the effective on-going maintenance of the system.
