Shane Randall, Service Management Consultant
‘Coming to Informed Solutions from a background in Geography and Geographic Information Systems (GIS), I expected to be driven by my interest in data and in particular, the potential application of geospatial data to enable better informed decisions to be made in the real world. Informed specialises in delivering innovation and digital transformation by design through our expertise in digital platforms and geospatial and location technology.
‘Whilst that has happened and I continue to have an active interest in GIS, I have also been surprised by the array of projects and topics that I have been given the opportunity to be involved with. Working as part of the service management team has allowed me the chance to work with a number of different clients undergoing different digital transformation journeys.
‘As part of my accelerated development at Informed, I’ve been positively challenged and supported in my daily activities, which has proved influential in my fast growth as a young professional. During this time I have also learned the essentials of team working in agile environments, specifically understanding the balance between using initiative to solve challenges and communicating and using the help of team mates to ensure project success.
‘Moving on from my time as a graduate associate, I have been talking to my colleagues about my longer-term career and what it might look like. A role that both excites me and is a central part of Informed’s unique methodology is testing and release management in agile service development – it’s a vital skill within all of our teams and the success of this role inevitably gives users of the services we co-design the best possible experience, which results in rewarding client relationships.
‘It’s been a really interesting journey so far and I’m now armed with a growing toolkit of skills for my future career development. Going from GIS to Service Management to Release Management is the best indicator of how Informed’s graduate scheme really does give you the opportunities to find a career path that best suits your abilities and ambitions.’
