Informed Solutions’ global CEO Elizabeth Vega has discussed what motivated her to set up an award-winning IT consultancy in a powerful new podcast for Northern Power Women.
Speaking to BBC journalist Sam Walker, Elizabeth said she first became aware of the glass ceiling at the age of 28 when she was told she could not progress any further in the large corporate she was working for at the time. “People would have a quiet word with you and say your ambitions weren’t really appropriate and that you would never make an executive board position. It just wasn’t felt that women had the skills to be on a main board,” she recalls.
Realising she would not be able to progress any further in her career by following a traditional corporate career path, she goes on to explain why she decided to take the plunge and set up her own business and why we still need to tackle deeply ingrained prejudices to create more opportunities for women in tech.
