The first location-based case management capability that embeds geospatial reasoning, AI and operational workflows into a single decision environment, to help organisations make faster, fairer and more informed decisions.
Informed Solutions today announces the launch of a first-of-its-kind location-intelligent case management capability, delivered as part of its multi-award-winning InformedDECISION™ platform.
Case management platforms were designed to manage records, workflows and documents. They were never designed to understand place. Yet for planning, environmental management, infrastructure, resilience and land-use decisions, location is the single most important factor influencing outcomes.
Informed’s view is that the next generation of decision platforms will not be document-centric or workflow-centric, but context-centric, combining operational, geographic and organisational intelligence to support better decisions. Where traditional case management systems treat geography as an add-on, and GIS platforms manage spatial data in isolation, InformedDECISION™ brings case management and location intelligence together in one unified platform. Decision-makers can assess evidence, analyse geographic context, identify constraints, understand impacts and determine next actions from within a single workflow.
By combining geospatial intelligence with AI-powered reasoning, InformedDECISION™ enables organisations to understand not only what is happening and where it is happening, but also why it matters and what action should be taken next.
Location-intelligent case management provides a wholly new capability within the InformedDECISION™ platform, complementing its intelligent forms and AI-powered search and knowledge capabilities. Together, these capabilities create a next generation, end-to-end decision support environment, designed with AI and geospatial built-in to improve data quality, reduce manual effort, strengthen auditability and underpin consistent, transparent outcomes at scale.
It is designed for use across planning and development, environmental and heritage management, infrastructure and utilities, resilience and emergency response, land and resource management, and enterprise operations. By connecting cases to sites, assets, boundaries, constraints, incidents, historical patterns and landscape context, it helps organisations reveal hidden relationships, anticipate risk and act with clarity.
David Lawton, Chief Innovation Officer at Informed Solutions, said:
“Most case management systems tell you what happened. GIS systems tell you where it happened. InformedDECISION™ brings those worlds together to help organisations understand what should happen next.
“Every planning application, environmental assessment, infrastructure incident or resilience event has a geographic context that directly influences outcomes. By combining location intelligence, AI and organisational knowledge in a single decision environment, we’re helping organisations make faster, more consistent and more defensible decisions at scale.”
This launch builds on Informed Solutions’ 30-year pedigree of delivering national-scale geospatial, AI and data platforms for government and enterprise clients across the Australia, ASEAN, and the UK, where the company is leading geospatial transformation programmes for Defra, The Crown Estate, the National Digital Twin Programme and NatureScot.
In action at NatureScot
The new module has already demonstrated its value through Informed Solutions’ work with NatureScot, Scotland’s national nature agency. NatureScot partnered with Informed Solutions to modernise how it protects Scotland’s most sensitive ecosystems, whilst replacing fragmented processes and legacy systems with a single map-centric view of case history, environmental data, documents, and GIS layers.
Using InformedDECISION™, NatureScot has integrated more than 150,000 documents and datasets into one platform. AI-assisted triage, document processing and geospatial analytics now help case officers locate relevant information with confidence in seconds rather than hours, reducing review time and focusing expert capacity where it is needed most.
The impact of the platform has been transformative. NatureScot has halved case triage times and accelerated resolution of their complex planning and development cases by 18%, significantly improving the speed and efficiency of planning application processing. The enhanced user experience and intelligent, spatially enabled workflows now enable 10% of applications to receive an instant automated response, while another 8% of applications are fully resolved within 24 hours.
Alongside these operational improvements, the platform has empowered junior officers through AI-driven summarisation and guided workflows, helping to build greater confidence, consistency and capability across the organisation. The success of the initiative was formally recognised in 2024 when the platform received the Scottish Government’s Scottish Planning Innovation Award.
Darren Hemsley, Head of Good Development, NatureScot, said:
“The ability to combine case management, environmental evidence and location intelligence in a single platform has fundamentally changed how we assess and respond to applications. Our teams can access the right information at the right time, understand the full context of a site more quickly and focus their expertise where it delivers the greatest value. The result is faster decision-making, greater consistency and better outcomes for Scotland’s natural environment.”
Location as a transformative capability across sectors
Designed for organisations whose decisions are shaped by location, risk, assets, services, land, people or environmental impact, the new capability transforms traditional case management into an intelligent, spatially aware decision support platform. It enables teams to capture, triage, analyse and resolve location-based cases through mapping, geospatial analytics, predictive insight, AI-powered search, summarisation and automation.
Delivered as a secure, scalable SaaS platform, InformedDECISION™ is designed to integrate with existing GIS systems, CRMs, operational databases, national datasets and organisational knowledge stores through open APIs. It is compliant by design, aligned with GDPR, Government Digital Service standards, NCSC guidance and WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standards. The platform validated under AWS’ Well Architected Framework.
With this launch, Informed Solutions is defining a new generation of decision support technology, one that brings together cases, location, knowledge and AI in a single platform. As organisations face increasing complexity, regulatory scrutiny and pressure to improve productivity, InformedDECISION™ enables them to make decisions that are not only faster, but demonstrably smarter, fairer and better informed.
