Informed Solutions is proud to have partnered with NatureScot to win the prestigious Environment and Sustainability Award at the 2025 Association for Geographic Information (AGI) Awards, held during the GeoBusiness Conference at London’s ExCel Exhibition Centre.

The award recognises the innovative development and national deployment of InformedINSIGHT™, a cloud-based, AI-enabled platform that integrates satellite imagery, ecological data, and historical records to deliver decision-ready insights that support timely, targeted conservation action, and transform how Scotland monitors and manages its ecosystems.

Supported through the Scottish Government’s CivTech 8.5 Innovate for Nature Accelerator Challenge, the platform unifies diverse environmental datasets—including Earth Observation, eDNA, and legacy records – into a single system. This empowers NatureScot and its partners to prioritise at-risk areas, better coordinate efforts, and reduce duplication across the ecosystem monitoring process.

The platform was rolled out nationally in February 2025, and modelling suggests that InformedINSIGHT™ could reduce the operating costs of protected area monitoring programmes by 45% to 66%, if all proposed reforms are implemented. This efficiency gain means that NatureScot will be able to monitor an additional 60% of Scotland’s marine and terrestrial areas (critical to meeting the country’s UN 30 by 30 target) without increasing overall programme operating costs.
