Informed Solutions is delighted to announce that Senior Technical Consultant Annie Ankers has been appointed as a member the The Association for Geographic Information Council. The appointment of this role highlights Annie’s commitment and enthusiasm to influencing the future of the Geospatial community.

Annie’s role as council member will see her collaborating with other geospatial specialists to contribute to the AGI’s mission of leading, connecting and developing a community of members who use and benefit from geographic data and technologies.

The Association for Geographic Information (AGI) works to achieve their mission through three pillars that govern activities and intentions; to nurture and connect active GI communities, to support career and skills development for geographic information professionals, and to provide thought leadership to inspire future generations. The AGI also supports the provision of tools and knowledge needed by members to use geospatial to respond to and act upon the challenges faced by both the planet and its population.

Annie’s appointment comes at a strategically significant time for Informed Solutions, as the company continues to grow its geospatial practice, technical capability, and client portfolio. Informed’s geospatially enabled platforms – InformedDECISION™ and InformedINSIGHT™ – are already driving digital transformation in areas such as sustainable land management across Scotland and energy transition initiatives with the Crown Estate. The business has also recently secured a major multi-million-pound contract with Defra to help it unify land-related data and insights across its policy and operational teams. This integrated approach will enable more informed, data-driven decisions that directly advance Defra’s strategic goals and deliver meaningful benefits for citizens and the environment.

The UK’s geospatial industry currently contributes an estimated £6.6 billion to the national economy, with projections suggesting annual growth of around 10% by 2030. This expansion is being fuelled by advances in Earth Observation (EO) data, the increasing convergence of AI and geospatial analytics, and a growing emphasis on evidence-based decision-making. Realising the full value of geospatial information, however, depends on ensuring that both expert and non-expert users can effectively integrate spatial data into their workflows. Achieving this requires sustained collaboration, innovation, and cross-sector partnerships. Annie will bring her experience, expertise and leadership to drive these outcomes through her appointment to the AGI Council.

Annie Ankers, Senior Technical Consultant,  commented:

“I am excited and proud to take on the position of Council member for the AGI. Given we are at a time where geospatial data is becoming richer, smarter, and more accessible, the opportunity to drive and share knowledge of how best to implement this is a key motivator, and I am eager to play my part in encouraging collaboration and partnership within the Geospatial community. I look forward to collaborating with the AGI council over the next 3-years as we embrace this time of innovation, accessibility and opportunity.”

Seth Finegan, UK CEO, Informed Solutions commented:

“Annie’s appointment to the AGI Council is a fantastic reflection of her leadership, expertise, and commitment to advancing the geospatial profession. Her contribution will help strengthen collaboration and innovation across the community at a time when geospatial insight is becoming central to solving some of the UK’s most complex challenges.

“At Informed Solutions, we place great value on creating opportunities for our people to lead and shape the industries we serve. Annie’s new role exemplifies this ethos — empowering our colleagues to influence national agendas and drive meaningful change. As the geospatial sector continues to expand and underpin economic growth across areas such as infrastructure, sustainability, and data-driven policymaking, leadership from passionate professionals like Annie is key to ensuring that growth delivers real public value.”
